My wife and I were filled with trepidation at the prospect of travelling abroad to our summer home, while entrusting the messy business of renovating our cherished home in the Winelands to Gemstone Construction. Although Gemstone came highly recommended to us, we are new to the Paarl area and knew no-one. Renovations like ours are always beset with risk and danger, and as it is said, there is many a slip between the cup and the lip.  As it turns out, our anxiety was completely misplaced. John Truter and his team at Gemstone have now built 2 houses for us (one 500sqm, one 800 sqm on a hillside).  It is a pleasure to work with John and the team, from initial discussions and costing through to the whole building process.  We have learnt to trust, like and respect him, and his experience and attention to detail makes the building process a pleasure (not something you can say about all builders unfortunately).
John and the team are dedicated, hardworking, experienced guys who add value during the build as well as doing a high standard of fundamental building from start to finish. He also has excellent taste and his standards incredibly high, never once quibbling to return after the job is finished for anything that requires further attention.

I can honestly say in no uncertain terms that it was the most reassuring and pleasant building experience I have ever had with any builder.
